NAM

No, this is not short for "Vietnam", but I do love the smell of napalm in the morning. Yes, yes I do indeed.

Actually, NAM is the acronym for National Ab Month. It occurs during the month of February, also known as the coldest month of the year. Woohoo! I participated last year, thanks to Runner26 over at Running Chronicles. I dabbled really, but this year I am really participating. Because I can't run, so what else am I going to do? Supposedly, you actually can work your abs everyday without hurting yourself. I guess it depends on how much you actually do work those abs.

I feel that this might actually benefit more than just my ego, such as it is. A stronger core can only do good things for my running. Judging by the few runs I was able to do before my therapist decided that I need to suspend such activity ("doctor, it hurts when I do this...then don't do that"), once I am able to run again, I'll have to work really hard just to get back to where I was, let alone dropping my pace more and accomplishing the goals I had in mind prior to my injury. It can only make my running better.

And then when it's obnoxiously hot like it always is around July, I can run in a sports bra like the cool girls.

Ab work. A necessary evil. Especially if you hand wash like I do.
