Hell Week

Many apologies for my lengthy absence...it was a difficult week at work, and that, coupled with errands to run after work, left me tired and alone. So I've been working, eating, and sleeping the entire week. I should be back to my normal self this week. Well, after Monday when I start vacation that is.

I had physical therapy on Wednesday where I was treated to sports massage. I now have bruises on my right thigh for all the wrong reasons. It felt good though. Good in an oh-so-bad way. My physical therapy gal, Mandy, decided that since I'd been having a bad running week, that I needed to take two solid weeks off.

Gasp.

I was not happy about that idea, but I'd been hurting hardcore since Saturday, so therefore, I'd already taken Sunday through Wednesday off by riding a bike and doing core workouts instead. I felt good during those workouts, but running on Saturday last nearly brought me to tears. As the terrain is a bit slippery these days, I figured this would be okay. But I do want to run whilst I'm in Ohio next week for Christmas. So here we go, I'll bike tomorrow, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I'll attempt to run Wednesday. And we'll go from there.

It's just so frustrating! This is my favourite time of year to run. This is my favourite time of year to eat. If either of the two elements above are missing, I feel sad. I can't run and eat all of the holiday baked goods that I want. Running without a tasty reward feels a little empty. But then I reminded myself that there's a few more months up Winter left in Chicago. So, there's time for me to run in sub-zero weather with a wind off the lake.

So tomorrow I plan on going for a lengthy walk, and will be taking my camera with me so you'll be able to see the sights of my Naperville abode. As I'm moving back into the city in January, this is the last of my time in the 'Ville. Alas. No more prairie preserve, no more wind-swept fields, no more random wild life endangering my life. Instead, it'll be the sights and sounds of the Lakefront path again! I'll be living a little further South, so I'll have new adventures to share, I believe.

Stay tuned...

Haha. I hope Santa brings you all the "right" reasons :)
