Strong like bull! Sort of...We are five-ish weeks into the semester (me thinks) and I feel a little behind. Or a lot behind. This is alarming because I am in grad school and should therefore be on top of things.
My mum assures me that this is a normal feeling. If I was feeling on top of my game, it would probably mean that I was A) on drugs, or B) forgot something.
And without going into the whole grad school thing too much (since this blog's raison d'être is running), I feel like I have a lot to prove. I don't have a teaching assistantship in my program because of funding, but I feel like the people who got those assistantships that were available, really were qualified for them. I should have one in my program next year, but there are no guarantees. I want to make sure that I've done all that I can to convince the Powers That Be of my worthiness. If funding is an issue, then that's not something I can control. However, me not being qualified or underperforming this year is a different story.
So I should probably wrap this post up...
Anyway. This morning was a short, "speedy" workout since I have class at 9 AM on Wednesdays. I ran three miles, taking into account MicaPie's suggestion to run along Armory (P.S. I saw your boyfriend running on Monday. He's fast), and it is beautiful. The leaves are starting to turn colours and the homes on that street are gorgeous. Nevertheless, it was muggy and damp this morning, even at 6 AM, so the three miles were a bit of a struggle. But I finished them. So, Win. There's one problem though...
Acorns.
I bit it on some acorns this morning. Fudge. I'm okay, and no one saw it (so did it actually happen???), but still...it shook me up a bit. The last thing I need is an injury that I have to explain as an "Acorn Incident". Could be the name of my new band, though...
For the rest of the week, I've got cross training tomorrow morning at 7 AM, 3.5 miles on Friday morning, and then something longer on Saturday morning. After which I will be journeying to get fitted for/buy a new pair of running shoes. And maybe some other goodies...

Ooh, French department, tu me manques! hahah. Er. Sometimes. I don't miss the stress of feeling underqualified though. Seriously, I think everyone suffers from some degree of "imposter syndrome" in grad school. (Like, "What?? I can't do this! I'm behind and don't deserve to be here. Everyone is soooo much smarter.")
Isn't Armory a joy? If you head East, you can also convince yourself that you're running up a hill.
I'm running Women's Fitness (5K--Crystal Lake, same course in reverse, I think) on Saturday morning as part of a HM goal pace run. I'm going to do seven easy and then try to run the race at sometime approximately HM GP.
Also, let me know if you want company to BnS.
Hmmm Acorn Incident? Acorn Attack~ Acornucopia... do you have a band? or just a name just in case:)
If you blogged it, then it happened! Also Joe and I run on Armory (past the country club) quite often. It's really nice when the houses have their sprinklers on.
