There are runs where my life feels like a Nike commercial. My form is excellent, my hair looks super-cool, all of the clothes I'm wearing just happen to be Nike, I'm passing people, a cool song starts playing on my iPod...
...and then I look at Joanie Garmin, see that I'm running a 10:00 mile, and return to reality!
It's cool, though, I'm getting faster, really! Today's morning run averaged from a 9:54 to a 9:42 for a little over 4 miles. Sweet for me! I have to do another solo long run tomorrow, at 8 miles. Unfortunately, the forecast is calling for a snow storm, starting this evening, and ending tomorrow afternoon. The heaviest snow will of course fall in the morning, the only time I have available tomorrow for my run. I'm hearing that it'll be anywhere from 4 to 9 inches.
But if history proves to be consistent, I should have a really good run tomorrow. Maybe even a fast long run! Keep your fingers crossed for me...
In Gym News, there must have been a memo that I didn't get calling for every tool bag, tramp, and practitioner of odd exercise techniques to show up at the gym. There was Sports Bra & Hot Pants girl. There was I'm-Going-to-Use-The-Entire-Exercise-Floor-to-Stretch guy. And then there was...well...there's no cute way to describe him guy. I'll tell you what he did instead: he did some ballet stretches (we are in Boys Town, after all) before doing some sort of quasi-hand stand. Four times. Finally, he decided he was going to do back flips over one of those green exercise balls. Then he decided he was going to stand on top of the ball.
Yes. On top of the ball. Standing. I kid you not. And I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to stand on these things. These are the balance balls that you do sit-ups and crunches on, remember?
After that, I decided that I probably should go home I had seen enough for a Friday night.

LOL. Your gym sounds worse than mine ;).
When I went to bootcamp last spring, our instructor made us kneel on the ball and play catch. I nearly killed myself! Standing?! Thats nuts!
