Acting Up

I truly had intended to post last night after our tech rehearsal...but I didn't get home until after midnight. It was definitely time for bed at that point. I've been so tired lately, no joke! I really just can't wait until our show opens so that the majority of my week can be spent NOT at rehearsal.

At least for my part, I felt that tech did not go so well. True, it was all about getting used to being in the space, working transitions, and using new props, but still...I felt distracted; completely not-in-the-moment. I even missed a cue because I forgot to pre-set a prop on the other side of the stage. For sure will NOT be making that mistake again. RW (our director, and one of my best friends) did not look happy either, which makes me nervous because I know he's been stressed about his directorial debut in Chicago. And we've only got 2 more days of tech before our preview on Thursday.

So the show must go on! And I am confident-ish that we will get it together by Thursday. I'm also glad that I'm out of my funk about it. I was beginning to think that acting was waning on me because I just wasn't feeling good about me in the show, etc. It was a scary feeling because I've pretty much devoted my adult life to this, believing that it is what God intended me to do. But man! I was just in such a funk...I hadn't been on stage in a while, and I thought once I was that everything would be perfect. Well, needless to say, not everything was perfect, and nor should I ever expect it to be! Silly me.

Well even though last night didn't go as well as I was hoping it would, I felt better...oddly enough! So yeah, I'm getting there, slowly but surely.

OH! And if you are in the Chicago area and want to see the show, Thursday nights are a good time because they are pay-what-you-can (regular ticket prices are $20 for adults, $15 for industry, students, and seniors). Check out my theatre company's webpage for more info.

In other news...I bought a Garmin! Maybe if rehearsal doesn't go too late tonight, I'll post about it. It was a very exciting purchase, and so far, no buyer's remorse!

I always hated dry tech... it always took FOREVER and it was so much standing around waiting for lights to adjust and whatnot. And you didn't even get the fun of wearing costumes, which was my favorite part :)

I just got my Garmin too, so we'll have to share tricks and tips with each other as we learn how to use it.
