Lack of sleep + hot weather = bad running
I was out for a little bit with a friend who'd been in town for a week now, and was just able to hang out with me for one night. I informed her that I needed to be up at 5 AM to run since I have relatives visiting on Friday night.
Lack of money + early runs = not getting hammered
I knew as soon as I headed out the door that, despite slightly cooler temperatures and a short 40 minute run, this would be an unpleasant run. Sure enough, it was. Joanie Garmin refused to locate the satellites for over a mile, and when she finally did, they were taking a while to catch up with me. My "pace" started out at 13:37. I may have been going slow, but not that slow. By the end of the run, things had changed. But it didn't matter at that point.
Whilst on the path, a cyclist whizzed by me, as they often do. I took notice of this one, however, because she was really thin. I'm used to seeing lean people cycling rather quickly on the path, but this woman was beyond slender. I wouldn't even say she was a waif. She looked like a Rhodesian Ridgeback. And an emaciated one at that.

I was a little worried for her health. Luckily, the heat snapped me out of my reverie and I was once again reminded that I was not yet half-way done with my run.
Miles to go before I sleep, and all that.
So I'm still concerned about tomorrow's scheduled 11 miler. While the weather reports are now only reporting temperatures in the high 80's, the humidity is supposed to be extremely bad tomorrow, followed by thunderstorms and then cooling temperatures on Sunday. I'm trying not to psych myself out, but I can't help but think of last year's 16 miler where I bonked about 11 or 12 miles into it. This was on a day with 88 degree weather and 48% to 50% humidity. True, I lived to run another day. But honestly, I could do without having another scary run like that ever again.
Keep your fingers crossed that I survive what will most likely be the worst 11 miles of my life.

can you switch the long run to Sunday? If it is supposed to be cooler on Sun, that might be better for you.
