Guilt

I had relatively uneventful runs on Friday and Saturday...Friday was a straight 40 minute easy run and Saturday was a 7 miler cut-back long run. I may have been a tad dehydrated because getting through the seven miles felt a bit laborious. I also had weird foot pains at the very beginning of the run. The kind of pain where you think you tied your shoe too tight, you know? So I was forced to stop less than one mile in, retie the shoe, and stretch for a few minutes.

I encountered one annoying inconsistent run/walker. I have no problem with the run/walk method. In fact, I assume that one day, in order to still be active whilst being very, very old, I'll have to adopt it. Plus, there are plenty of people out there who are waaaaaaaaaay faster than me, even though they are run/walkers. But the people who usually do it, do so with some sort of purpose, i.e. run 8 minutes/walk 2 minutes or walk for one minute per each mile you run. This chickiedoodle would run until she passed me, then start walking. As soon as I passed her, she would repeat the pattern.

Really, Run/Walker? Really?!

Oh! And...there was a couple, holding hands whilst running together. Yes, please DO rub your relationship in my face. I hope you both trip and fall. Holding hands. How romantic.

Since I'm still nervous about, well, both of my feet, I'm trying to be careful with my mileage right now. Since I'm doing a half marathon in May instead of a full marathon, this isn't a problem! It saves me time too, because I don't really need to do two-per-day workouts. Therefore, when I woke up at 5 AM to go on my run and discovered that I was still too tired, I changed my alarm and drifted off for another 1.5 hours of sleep. Even though I'll be running this evening, I still felt guilty about this decision. I have no clue as to why...perhaps because working out in the morning makes me feel more like a bad ass? Either way, I just felt like a bad runner for the rest of the morning.

Delurking to LOL at your wish for the running couple. Thanks for making me laugh out loud - I'd have wished them the same!

LOL!!!! Oh, I would have wanted to kick that run/walker AND that couple in the shins. All of them! At the same time. HiYA! (that's the sound of a serious karate-style shin kick!)

I'm with everyone else...running while holding hands?! Really? How is that even possible? I'm tired and out of breath just thinking about it.
