When I checked my schedule of running stuff for Monday, I discovered that it was 50 minutes of hills. Either run a hilly course for 50 minutes or warn up/cool down and in between do 8 hill repeats.
You may recall that I live in Chicago. Where there are no hills.
So what's a girl to do but journey to the one hill that I know and run up and down it 8 times. The weather on Monday provided an additional challenge in that there were fairly high winds (as if that's a surprise). It only took me 10 minutes to run from my apartment to Crickett Hill. So I dodged Tecate bottle and uneven ground for a while and still found that I had 20 more minutes to run. I continued North on the path, close to the lake, so I could take in the sights. Lake Mich looked to be a bit angry, and I did see a lone duck bobbing on the waves.
Oh to be a duck.
Other than that, no other interesting people on the path! I know how disappointed you all must be. On the upside, I did get to wear my cold weather running gear for a little bit longer. It's nearly April and I still have my vests, long pants, gloves, and hat on. Who knows how long this could last? Today, for instance, was a lot warmer but then it started raining.
Someone wanted an update on Runner Boy. I wish I could say that I had something new to report, but I haven't seen him in over a week! This is troubling to me, too, because as of next Tuesday, I'll no longer have a gym membership. I went to the gym today, and am planning on going tomorrow and Thursday as well. Possibly Saturday, but that's also packet pick up for the Shamrock Shuffle. Anyway, this evening's gym experience included odd moments in the locker room. As I was getting ready to head out on the workout floor, this girl plopped down on the bench next to me, opened her locker, sat there. And. Stared.
Just stared. I was definitely a little curious, so I took my time putting my iPod armband on, rearranging my locker, etc.
And still she sat. Staring.
I could only wait so long for something to happen. You know, like grass growing. So i decided to head out and begin my workout.
So I'll keep you posted in Runner Boy should return. It'd be nice to have some eye candy for my last week at the gym, right?

Mmmm. I do love myself some good eye candy. And, apparently, someone thought YOU were eye candy as well, what with all that staring. ;)
Good way of looking at the weather: "On the upside, I did get to wear my cold weather running gear for a little bit longer. It's nearly April and I still have my vests, long pants, gloves, and hat on." Me too. I guess I should be happy to be getting my money's worth!
Good job on the hill.
good luck in the shamrock shuffle!!
No Runner Boy? How sad.
You must spend every waking minute at the gym this next week in order to spot him again. Seriously. :)
maybe you will see runner boy at the race?!?! keep your eyes peeled :)
Nice hill work.
Dang! I can't believe in one more week, we won't have any more gym stories from you. I was growing attached to Runnerboy and the rest of the cast.
