I'm beginning to think this may be some sort of conspiracy to get me fat, lazy, and hibernating for the entire winter. So far, I've managed to thwart the urge to sit around, eat, and watch bad television programming, but I don't know how long I can hold out whilst my apartment is still 57 degrees. It's much easier to justify a run in 32 degree weather with a wind off the lake when you know you've got a nice, cozy apartment to come back to.
Even if Scutigera coleoptrata might be waiting for me.
Per Viper's advice, I tucked into my Jamesons stash solely for the sake of keeping warm. I've found that in the autumn and winter seasons, I prefer my whiskey neat as opposed to on the rocks. Interestingly, my family in Ireland loves to mock me endlessly for this. Apparently, no one says "on the rocks" there. You'd ask for your whiskey "on ice". I think that's lame.
I saw something interesting things on my runs over the past couple of days that I would love to share with you. I saw a girl wipe out on a beer bottle. She was moving along at a good clip, when she suddenly went down. The offending bottle was none other than Bud Light. Terrible. We often forget the perils of running through Wrigleyville. Monochrome Man is also out on the path again, but today he had purple tights and a yellow jacket. Maybe he used to play for the Lakers? He certainly is tall enough, that's for sure. I really wish I could video tape his run for you because it is just so ODD, but I've come to expect it every day. I've also seen a few raccoons on the run. Well...on the "scurry" actually...I don't think what they were doing can qualify as running really.
Oh! And I also got a new pair of shoes!!! Fleet Feet once again fell down on the job and didn't have my size of the shoe that they fitted for me that fits SO well AGAIN. Luckily, since the shoe they fitted me for is a Nike, I simply went to the Nike store on Michigan Ave yesterday during lunch and got a new pair. BONUS: I got to pick from a variety of colours! I don't usually pick my shoes by colour, but if you happen to have them in my favourite colours, well then that's bueno for me.
We have a seven mile run on the books for tomorrow. The weather looks good for a run! I had a decent run this morning, although I was a bit over-dressed, but I'll blame that on my cold apartment.

How can you still have no heat?! That has to be illegal. Seriously, threaten to start a fire in your apartment for warmth. Maybe that'll get them off their lazy asses.
Hope you have a happy and warm Halloween weekend.
Hehe I find comfort in the weird people I see day after day on my runs
Enjoy those new shoes! I hope you get your heat soon.
Oooohhhh which ones did you get? I lurve me some Nikes.
Yes, the cold months sometimes require warm whiskey. Hope things are heating up over there. Happy running.
And thanks (belatedly) for the link.
Ahhh Chicago Winters. I do not miss them. I hope the cold temps hold off a little longer for you.
