Three Weeks?!

Welcome to my taper. Population: Me.

Do I really have to do this for three weeks? Why can't I just do two? This will be an interesting taper because now I have to deal with readjusting my two-a-day workout schedule. I think I'll stick to the doubles for the next week at least, before cutting out one workout per day. What do you guys think?

I'm still quite pleased with my 20 miler on Saturday. Was it exactly on pace for the entire run? No. Was it easy? Not really, no. But I did do it with minimal stopping and felt like I could have gone on at the end. I'm really hoping the weather is cooler in October, because they don't start the race until 8 AM on October 12th. And if you're me and you're in the open corral, it could very well be 9 AM before you actually reach the start line. No joke...it could happen. I really don't understand why they don't start it earlier. They'd avoid so much shit if they started it at 6:30 or 7 AM. Whatever.

During this morning's run, I made a mental list of things. Some questions were answered, but most were not. Please for you to enjoy:

1. What is a cholo and how would one lean?

2. What am I going to eat for lunch today? ANSWER: Greek Yogurt and Granola

3. I wonder how long my bananas will last. Maybe until Saturday?

4. Huh...the Monochrome Man is wearing all black at 5:30 AM. I don't think that's very safe.

5. My family rocks.

6. Should I go get my Masters in French?

7. If I did, what would I do with it? Because I hate teaching.

8. Not sure I can pay for that.

9. I'm so excited that Run Fatboy, Run comes out on DVD tomorrow!

10. How many cookies DID I eat last night?

11. Should have asked my roommate for the bill payments last weekend. Shit.

12. I need a half-marathon to do in January...but which one?

12. Can I even afford to do this half-marathon?

13. Hey, I feel pretty good today! Take that, 20 Miles!!!

14. I can't wait for the weather to be cold again.

15. Should I spring for the Jamesons Special Reserve?

16. I'm hungry.

This all happened in the span of 45 minutes.

I tend to agree. I like to treat my first week after the last big LR as less mileage but maintain intensity. 3 weeks is a long time.

My first Chicago Marathon, I stood basically near the very back and it took 18 minutes to get to the start line. It went by quick though.

I know what a cholo is but I'm not sure how their lean would be any different from a normal gangsta ROFLMAO!

LOL! I love how the mind wanders during a run. Also, I totally agree with you that Chicago should start earlier. Why don't they?? Although new york doesn't start until 10... It kills your whole day.
