It started out a little dicey because I had a member on the phone who wanted to talk about the weather. No joke. So I got started a little late. Not too big of a problem, because I was planning on 30 minutes anyway, due to whatever the hell is wrong with my foot. I changed in the teeny bathroom, put my stuff back in my cubicle, strapped on Joanie Garmin, and headed out into the sunlight! Here is where I encountered my next problem. If you recall, I work in I guess what people would consider to be "downtown Chicago", which is really the Streeterville area. There are lots of tall buildings. I fought with Joanie Garmin for about three minutes before deciding that I could just mapmyrun when I got back to my desk. And away we went!
I didn't have to stop too much, and there weren't a lot of people out. I had initially wanted to run to the Path, since we're so close, but I figured that by the time I fought with the tourists on Michigan Avenue, and then got out on the Path, I'd have to turn back around. So I decided to head West instead and it was a pretty good idea. I wish I'd planned my route a bit better, because I ended up back at my building only 23 minutes, 10 seconds later. Bummer. But still, this is good for me! I feel (aside from my foot) really good right now. Maybe a little smelly. Which is why I will not be doing this once the weather gets nice again (probably not until May, let's be honest)...if I'm a little sweaty now, imagine how terrible it would be for me to go running in the middle of the day in June or July!
So in the end, I really enjoyed my noon workout and will try to keep it up. Perhaps I'll start out with just Tuesdays or just Thursdays. Either way, I feel like it can only be a good thing.
Speaking of sweaty...here's me in the Turkey Trot!

I too am intrigued by the lunch hour run idea. Which of the supplies suggested by our friends at Runner's World did you use to clean yourself up afterwards?
I love the idea of lunch time exercise, but then there's that whole sweating thing to deal with. I have not found a satisfactory solution to this issue yet...one that doesn't involve me running home for a shower. :)
