Ummmm...Ouch?!

So the foot hasn't felt any better. Therefore, I am not feeling any better. You could say that I'm feeling panic. Panic because I wanted to have a nice long training period for Cleveland. Panic because this is sooooo the wrong time of year to not be able to run. Panic because I haven't had a serious injury to my legs since I retired (oh yes it's true..if you're over the age of 22 in Irish dance, you either retire or join a show) from competitive dance. Now it appears that my luck may have run (yikes...bad joke) out.

I know I'm jumping the gun. I haven't been to a doctor yet, so who knows for sure. What I do know is that the foot hurts when I run on it. This morning was supposed to be an easy 40 minute run. I was moving a long at a good pace, but feeling the foot ever-so slightly as I went. By the time I turned around, I had to stop twice because of how it felt. So I am reluctantly going to nix my 11 miler scheduled for tomorrow. If I had this much trouble on a 4 miler, 11 miles would be a pretty poor idea. It's not like I'm qualifying for Boston any time soon. And I'm now feeling pretty good for not registering for a January race and booking any plane tickets. That really would have sucked. If I can take care of this now, then I'll hopefully be strong enough to resume training in January, and thus be ready for my May Marathon. In the meantime, perhaps I can scrounge together the cash for a month-to-month gym membership. Like I said before, Holiday = Bad Time for Injuries.

So instead, tomorrow morning I'm going to go to Athletico for their free injury screening and see how it goes. I'm really trying to avoid an MRI because I just can't afford it right now, but if it comes to that, then I guess I'll have to submit.

In related news, SSB has finally left me alone. I let him know that he would not, in all likelihood, be getting any from me, so he might as well not waste his time. Now back to the regularly scheduled lack of interest in me.

So sorry about the foot. It's a good idea to hold off on the long run, just to make sure you're not going to do any damage. Let us know what they say at the injury analysis.

Injuries suck. But you're doing the right thing getting it checked out. Hopefully some rest will do the trick. Best of luck!
